Unlike the more popular Athirappally waterfalls situated 5km away which requires a trek to get there, Vazhachal is easier to access, be it by the aged or children. As Athirapally and Vazhachal are closeby, both can be visited on the same day. They come from the same river Chalakudy which has its origins in the Anamalai Hills. The water cascade awaits at the end of a road thriving with greenery on either side. Entry into the falls is allowed only when it isn’t the monsoons as it is a time when the flow of the water is unpredictable. A refreshments stall operated by forest staff of the Vazhachal Co-operative Society brings respite to travellers while benches for visitors and rides for children all along the way to the falls allow one to rest, making the journey more enjoyable.
