The Enamavu backwaters is situated here and is a part of an extensive labyrinth of canals and lagoons that are interwoven. Peechi Dam is the sole water source for this lake, which is then connected to other rivers such as Kurumali and Puzhakkal. The verdant fields form a blanket around the lake making it a splendid sight. The area encompassing the lake is opulent with paddy plantations aligned with the hills, forming a picturesque milieu. The Connolly river flows to the west of the lake, lined with rows of coconut trees. Enamavu is located closer to the coast at a distance of 20 km from Thrissur. It lies between Thrissur and Guruvayur, at a distance of just 12 km from the latter. It is easily accessible by bus or train. The bus fare will be nominal, at around Rs.20. It is a favourite among backpackers for its tranquil environs.
